When you don’t know what to do…

Lately, when I sit down to write, I feel a tension.

I still deeply care about helping you fund your vision, but there is another conversation burning in my heart—one about legacy, endurance, and “Finishing Well.”

Not knowing what to do, I do nothing.

Yes, indecision IS a decision.

Selah.

Here is what I know. When you don’t know what to do, go as far as you can see and then you can see further.

David Oaks speaking to a group of nonprofit fundraisers about biblical fundraising strategies and finishing well
When indecision strikes, take the first step—go as far as you can see, and clarity will follow.

This email is me going as far as I can see.

I’ve struggled with trying to fit two very different conversations into one box, and I realize that isn’t fair to you.

I don’t want to clutter your inbox or distract you from the fundraising tools you signed up for.

I want to honor your time and your inbox.

So, I’ve decided to split my email lists into two distinct paths:

  1. The Fundraiser (Mentoring Monday): Practical tools and strategies to fully fund your work.

  2. Finishing Well: Reflections on legacy, life transitions, and ending our journeys strong.

If you want to stay on both lists, you don’t need to do a thing.

However, if you only want the fundraising tips (or only the Finishing Well thoughts), hit reply and just give me an easy head’s up and I will segregate you.

  • Reply and type: “Fundraising” (Send me ONLY Fundraising tips)

  • Reply and type: “Finishing Well” (Send me ONLY Finishing Well thoughts)

Thank you for letting me evolve, and for letting me serve you exactly where you are.

IF YOU ARE A FUNDRAISER KEEP READING

Today, at 12 noon EDT, I am hosting our first Fundraising Accelerator group.

For now, it’s free. This allows me to “test drive” the concept I have in my mind and then offer it as a paid subscription in a few months.

I did this once before, and the people who started out with me paid almost nothing to attend after I began charging. I suspect I’ll do the same this time too.

I envision our group being like a mastermind or peer advisory group, along with teaching.

That means we all show up to help each other, and as we help each other, we get help ourselves.

I want to start out the first 30 minutes with a faith-based lesson from the Bible on fundraising. When I made the quality decision in my heart that fundraising was a biblical call (NOT BEGGING), I began raising SO much more money.

I want you to live with that same conviction. I only came to this deep conviction after years of study, and likely you’ll need the same.

Doing this the first 30 minutes will allow for pastors and faith community leaders to tune in for the first half hour then sign out as we study fundraising techniques.

I want to lead you to that deep conviction that makes you powerful.

I would LOVE for you to attend.

Who is this for?

  • Nonprofit fundraisers

  • Pastors

  • Bible teachers

  • Christians who want to know more about biblical giving
